Quick answer
Hubble is RubixKube's on-call product. It pages the right person when an alert fires, keeps paging until someone acknowledges it, and escalates when nobody does. With RubixKube, the person paged opens an incident that already has its investigation running, and often the cause.
An alert is only useful if the right person sees it, and a page is only useful if they know where to start. Hubble handles the first part. RubixKube handles the second.
What Hubble does
- Rosters: rotations, layers and overrides, with handoffs between shifts.
- Escalation policies: who is paged first, who next, and after how long.
- Contact rules per person, separate for high and low urgency.
- One-tap acknowledgement that stops the escalation.
- Slack: ask who is on call with
/oncall who, and acknowledge pages from the message. - A phone app to acknowledge, resolve or escalate.
Example: an escalation policy
Checkout escalation policy
| Level | Who | Escalates after |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Primary on call | 5 minutes |
| 2 | Secondary on call | 10 minutes |
| 3 | Team lead | Repeats twice |
A high-urgency page goes to the phone straight away and to email two minutes later. A low-urgency one arrives in the app, with an email after 30 minutes.
Better with RubixKube
Hubble works on its own. Add RubixKube with the same sign-in, and every incident gets an investigation and a suggested fix. The page tells you who is needed. The RCA tells them what broke and why, before they open a laptop.
Pricing
Hubble is $20 per seat a month, or $10 per seat with a RubixKube plan. Enterprise is custom, with SSO, role-based access and dedicated support. See Hubble.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need RubixKube to use Hubble?
No. Hubble runs on its own. With RubixKube it costs half as much per seat, and every incident comes with its investigation.
Can I keep PagerDuty?
Yes. RubixKube reads PagerDuty incidents and investigates them. Hubble is there if you want on-call and paging from RubixKube too.
How do people get paged?
By push notification, email, in the app and in Slack, following each person's contact rules for high and low urgency.
